Sebastian Reynolds

Sebastian Reynolds is an Oxford based composer, multi instrumentalist and music creator supported by PRS, British Council and Arts Council England. With over 15 years experience, Sebastian has gained a reputation for creating thought provoking and atmospheric scores for live contemporary dance performance and film. In 2016, Sebastian collaborated with the internationally renowned dance company Neon Dance and working together with traditional Thai musicians and dancers the team created the hour long production ‘Mahajanaka Dance Drama’, with original score composition by Sebastian. The work previewed in 2018 at Wiltshire Music Centre and Sadler's Wells Wild Card before premiering in London at the British Library in 2019. Sebastian went on to become a regular composer for Neon Dance who’s previous commissions include Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds and Anne Müller (Erased Tapes). Current touring collaboration ‘Puzzle Creature’ premiered in Japan as part of Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial with Sebastian creating a score of 8 speakers and audiences being invited to experience the work inside a futuristic dome. He went on to be commissioned by Art Front Gallery to create an adaptation of the Puzzle Creature score for a new outdoor version of the work for Setouchi Art Triennial Japan in September 2019.

Sebastian is also part of touring group Solo Collective alongside contemporary chamber musicians Anne Müller and Alex Stolze, the trio have performed sold out performances around Europe and released two acclaimed records, Solo Collective Part 1 & Part 2.

A selection of published and commissioned score material by Sebastian Reynolds including ‘Theme for Maṇīmekhalā’ taken from the Thai dance and music production ‘Mahajanaka Dance Drama’ (2018), ‘The Illuminated Factory’ was inspired by the work of Luigi Nono and commissioned by Bath Spa University for the Museum of Bath at Work (2016), ‘Ascension’ and ‘Mildenhall’ were released on Solo Collective Part 1 and Part 2 respectively.
